Wes and Rachelle Siegrist have been hailed as two of the finest living practitioners of the miniature art form and recognized as ‘World Ambassadors’ for miniature art by their peers within the genre.  Their career path as miniaturists began in 1997 after having received an application for the Miniature Art Society of Florida’s annual international exhibition of miniature art.  The following year, after their works were again accepted into the show, Rachelle’s painting received an award and was purchased for the Society’s permanent collection.  Thereafter they devoted an increasing amount of their output to miniatures and never looked back to the world of large-scale paintings.

Now, their unparalleled success at specializing in rendering tiny masterpieces is demonstrated by their consistent presence in prestigious exhibitions such as the Society of Animal Artists’ Art & the Animal Exhibition, Birds in Art and Art of the Animal Kingdom in the genre of wildlife art and their accrued accolades in the international miniature art exhibitions.  Likely the first modern miniaturists to derive a living solely from miniature painting, they have been honored with five solo museum exhibitions to date with the acknowledged expert and author on American wildlife art, Dr. David J. Wagner, serving as their curator and tour director.  In his words, “The Siegrists capture the attention of viewers not with outstretched canvas but with miniature paintings so exquisitely rendered that they are often mistaken for photographs.  Their tiny treasures typically measure less than nine square inches and appear even more detailed when viewed under magnification.  Consequently, Wes and Rachelle Siegrist enjoy a dimension of interactivity with viewers that few painters of standard easel-size paintings enjoy. A hallmark of their work is the ability to convey the feel of larger canvases or the essence of the natural world in miniature.”

In addition to their career as miniature painters, the Siegrists are active in a variety of art societies including the Society of Animal Artists, the Miniature Art Society of Florida, the Miniature Artists of America, the Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers Society of Washington, DC and the Hilliard Society of England.  They are the authors of the world’s first standard definition of miniature art adopted by the Association of Miniature Artists.  Wes has authored three books highlighting their work and the field of miniature art and regularly lectures on the subject of miniature art history and its contemporary scope.

The Artists reside in Townsend, Tennessee beside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
